There is no safe single duration to quote for every HND speciality. For example, a published Computer Engineering syllabus describes a four-to-six-week industrial placement carrying six credits and 90 hours. Other fields may structure workplace practice differently.

Ask for the current module descriptor before choosing dates. The placement must fit the academic calendar, report supervision and national-exam file deadlines.

For the 2026 session, chiefs of centre were required to forward defence reports for internship reports and supervised projects to the National Committee by 4 May. Examination centres also had to verify internship attestations and second-year transcripts, with the relevant list due by 22 May.
