An IT internship in Cameroon is easier to secure when you can show a specific skill, a small portfolio and a clear learning objective. Sending the same vague request to many companies is less effective than approaching suitable organisations with evidence that you can contribute.
Internships connect classroom knowledge with real users, deadlines, teamwork and professional standards. Official HND examination instructions from previous MINESUP sessions have required evidence of industrial placement for internal candidates, showing how seriously practical exposure is treated in the HND pathway.
Internship requirements differ by programme and year. Confirm the duration, supervision, report and attestation rules with your institution before starting.
| Field | Possible host organisations | Evidence to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Web/software | Software firms, agencies, schools, NGOs and businesses with internal systems. | Two working applications and source-code documentation. |
| Networking/cybersecurity | ISPs, IT service companies, banks, institutions and larger businesses. | Home-lab diagrams, hardening reports and networking projects. |
| Design/marketing | Agencies, print shops, media teams, retailers and organisations. | Portfolio, campaign plan and measured sample project. |
| Hardware support | Repair centres, schools, offices and IT service providers. | Troubleshooting checklist and documented repair practice. |
Put the most relevant information first: target field, practical skills, two or three projects, education and contact details. Describe what you did and the result. “Built a responsive five-page website for a local association” is stronger than “knowledge of HTML”.
Never invent experience. A small honest project is more credible than a long list of tools you cannot explain.
Your portfolio can be a clean website, PDF or organized repository. Include:

Look beyond firms with “tech” in their name. Hospitals, schools, hotels, retailers, NGOs, local councils and manufacturers all use digital systems. Select organisations where your field is relevant and identify the correct department or contact.
Your message should state who you are, the programme and level, the required period, the area you want to practise and the evidence attached. Explain one way you could help while learning. Keep it short and proofread it.
The ILO’s work in Cameroon repeatedly connects hands-on training with employability. Practical experience is most valuable when it builds a real skill and professional references—not when the intern only observes.
Start several weeks or months before the required date. Competitive organisations may plan placements well in advance.
You need beginner evidence rather than years of employment. Projects, labs and volunteer work can demonstrate readiness.
Be cautious. Ask your institution about legitimate placement arrangements and obtain written terms before paying any third party.
Follow up once politely, improve your portfolio and continue approaching suitable organisations through professional channels.
Next step: Choose a practical programme or ask about internship preparation.
