A MINEFOP-approved training centre should be able to show its official authorization or approval reference, identify the programmes it is permitted to offer and explain the certification attached to each programme. Never rely only on a logo, social-media advert or the phrase “government approved”.
Cameroon’s Law No. 2018/010 governing vocational training establishes a regulated professional-training system. Decree No. 2020/2592/PM states that vocational training centres may be public or private, must apply approved official or autonomous programmes and prepare learners for the corresponding certification. Private centres operate under MINEFOP supervision and require prior approval to open.
The official MINEFOP Statistical Yearbook for Vocational Training 2024–2025 separately counts private centres with and without valid approval. That is a strong reminder that appearing in the market—or even in a broad statistical listing—does not by itself prove current authorization.
| Check | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Legal centre identity | The registered name should match the name on the authorization and receipts. |
| Authorization or approval | Order or decision number, date, issuing authority and current validity. |
| Approved location | The campus address should correspond to the authorized establishment. |
| Programme | The exact trade, speciality, curriculum or approved training reference. |
| Qualification | DQP, CQP or another clearly identified certification—not a vague “international diploma”. |
| Examination | Who organizes it, how candidates register and who issues the final credential. |
Request the full reference, not only a photograph of a certificate. Record the order or decision number, date, legal centre name and issuing ministry. Check that the document relates to vocational training and to the institution you are considering.
A genuine centre should answer calmly and consistently. Be cautious if staff say authorization is “being processed”, refuse to provide a reference or present a document bearing a different business name.
Use current MINEFOP publications where available and contact the appropriate Regional Delegation of Employment and Vocational Training when you need confirmation. Ask whether the authorization is valid for the centre, location and programme. A telephone confirmation is useful; written confirmation is better for an expensive or long programme.
Do not assume that a company’s business-registration document authorizes it to deliver regulated vocational certification. Business registration and training-centre approval serve different purposes.
A centre’s general authorization does not mean every course name in its brochure leads to a MINEFOP qualification. Ask these questions:
Read the guide to DQP, CQP and HND qualifications so you do not confuse vocational certification with higher education or simple attendance certificates.
Authorization is essential, but it does not replace a quality inspection. Visit the campus when possible and look for:
A centre can possess documents and still deliver weak training. Approval, teaching quality and student support must all be checked.
Request the full cost in writing: registration, tuition, uniforms, materials, examination fees, internship expenses and graduation charges. Obtain an official receipt for every payment. Read refund and withdrawal terms before paying a large amount.
Reject guaranteed-employment claims. A responsible centre can describe career support, practical projects and internships, but no school controls every employer’s recruitment decision.
Afritech Institute publishes its MINEFOP authorization reference on the website and separates its programme pages by qualification and field. Applicants should still verify the exact course, entry requirement and current examination arrangement before enrolment—the same standard recommended for every institution.
Use the broader checklist for choosing the best IT training institute in Cameroon to compare accreditation, projects, facilities, internships and total cost.
No. Corporate or business registration does not replace authorization to operate a regulated vocational training centre.
Do not assume so. Confirm the legal establishment, location and programmes stated in the current authorization.
No. Centres may also offer private short courses and completion certificates. The credential and awarding arrangement must be stated clearly.
Contact the competent MINEFOP services or Regional Delegation with the centre name, address, advertised programme and supporting evidence.
Next step: Review Afritech programmes or request the authorization and admissions details.
